Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn't a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he's picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
