Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he's learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
