Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn't a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
