Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
