Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
