Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn't a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
