Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn't permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he's picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
