Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he's learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
