Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn't permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
