Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn't a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he's learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
