Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn't a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he's learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
