Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he's picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
