Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
