Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
